The End Was/Is Queer!

I’m just recovering from the extreme levels of awesomeness that I experienced at Queerpocalypse.  Thank you all for such an amazing event.  From cast, to crew, to audience, it was such an amazing show from top to bottom.  People traveled from near and far, and it was this massive joint effort that made the event so complete.

I served as impromptu sound person for the evening, which is something I had never done before, especially not for such a large event.  That afternoon’s tech rehearsal was the first time I had seen many of the acts that were to be performed later that night, and the tech was merely a walk-through for many of the performers to get acquainted with the stage at the Abbey Pub and for we crew to acquaint ourselves with the acts to help them work seamlessly.  Costumes, energy and crowd would come later.

From the very first act we teched, I felt the click in my mind that this show would be a good one.  Quality acts and a night of sheer enjoyment would be guaranteed.  That’s all I can hope for with any show I produce, and I KNEW I wouldn’t be let down.  A grin fitted my face that wouldn’t leave it for the rest of the night.

Thank you one and all for making that possible for me.  Rest assured, the Queerpocalypse will be brought again.

Help us fund Queerpocalypse!

You all know how hard we’ve been working over the last year to put on Ties & Tassels shows to raise money for ONE huge show in August called Queerpocalypse. Well, we did it, and booked a venue Aug. 20th at the Abbey Pub and the international gender-performance extravaganza is going to happen!!! Thank you to those of you who may have performed in our monthly shows, made donations of raffle prizes or volunteered for us. We could not have done this without your support and talent.

Now – We want to make this show the best it can be and after raising over $2000 already, we are trying to raise just a little more to match our funds and add on those extra bells and whistles that will make this show unforgettable to our performers as well as our audience. I’m asking that you take a look at our Kickstarter launch and pass it on to your friends and family. If you haven’t been able to be involved with our fundraising all along, here’s your chance to play a part.

***Ties & Tassels Productions (Candice Bree and Jenna Dalgety) have been raising funds for over a year in order to launch Queerpocalypse; a gender-performance spectacular of international delight! We’ve had monthly drag/burlesque variety shows, and have already been able to raise a good amount of funds to secure our venue. Queerpocalypse will happen on August 20th, 2011 at the Abbey Pub in Chicago, IL. We are now looking for Kickstarter supporters to help us match our efforts and raise an additional $1500 to help us pay for staffing our event (DJ, door, lights/sound, photographer/videographer), supporting our performers, and for advertising materials. We would also like to add in some extras such as making Queerpocalypse T-shirts, booking the Glitter Guts photo team for our audience to enjoy and some other perks to thank our performers. We have a fabulous line-up of amazing performers for the evening (drag, burlesque, circus acts, dance, music, comedy, & spoken word). If you haven’t been able to make it to one of our Ties & Tassels shows, here’s your chance to help us! Every dollar helps, and we thank you for your generosity!!!
